oUTCT Short Course

The University of Texas High-Resolution X-ray CT Facility (UTCT) will host a short course on the fundamentals of acquisition, visualization, analysis, and mobilization of high-resolution X-ray CT (HRXCT) data. This course will be offered twice: July 11-13 and August 8-10, 2022.

This course will present an overview of the acquisition and interpretation of HRXCT data, followed by tutorials that focus on 3D visualization and analysis of these data using ImageJ, Avizo, and Dragonfly. Participants will also receive an orientation to navigating and uploading data to MorphoSource.

This course is sponsored by the National Science Foundation and funds are available to cover the cost of travel, (shared) lodging, and meals. There is no charge to attend. Because space is limited, we will not be able to accommodate all applicants – preference will be given to those who are consumers of oVert and/or MorphoSource data.

To apply for this course, please email an application statement (limit of ~300 words) to Dr. Jessie Maisano no later than Friday, June 3rd that briefly outlines:

  1. Relevant biographical information (including your academic affiliations and your status as student, faculty/staff, etc.);
  2. The type of sample(s) that you wish to analyze and your research objectives;
  3. Whether you would prefer to attend the July short course, the August short course, or could attend either.
