The Forgery Sequence
This is the sequence in which the Archaeoraptor forgery was constructed. Figure A represents the original specimen before it was pieced together with unverifiable pieces. Figure B shows the placement of the "left" femur. Figure C shows the placement of the "right" and "left" tibia/fibula. The "right" and "left" tibia/fibula appear to be parts of a slab and counterslab from a single element. Figure D shows the placement of the "right" foot/ankle, which also represent the slab and counterslab of a single foot. Figure E shows the placement of pieces of the tail. The tail actually belongs to another fossil that represents a new species of dromaeosaur. Finally, Figure F shows the placement of shims that offer structural support, making the slab more presentable for sale.
