Lodranite (virtual sawcut)

Virtual sawcut through GRA 95209, parallel to initial sawn surface, but about 13 mm deeper into interior. Metal vein (bright) has numerous included graphite rosettes (dark). This image was produced by re-sectioning the 3D dataset in a direction nearly perpendicular to the orientation of the CT scan planes. A polished slab made by sectioning the specimen at the position suggested by CT imagery revealed excellent correspondence between the expected and actual features.
